Reef aquaria attempt to recreate an extremely complex and diverse ecosystem.

In natural reefs in the ocean, there are usually only minor fluctuations in the water parameters, as there is an enormous volume of water available. In the aquarium, of course, it is quite different, since the volume is severely limited. Thus, due to the metabolism and growth of animals, for example, there are considerable fluctuations in the chemical water parameters, sometimes in a very short time. Since stable water parameters are one of the most important factors for a successful reef aquarium, it is necessary to test some water parameters regularly.
